How It Works

SURGICEL Original is based on oxidized and regenerated cellulose. The unique double oxidation and regeneration process applied to alpha-cellulose creates a uniform chemical-physical molecular structure (Rayon) with a high affinity for hemoglobin. When in contact with biological fluids, it creates an acidic pH (<4), which contributes to its in vitro bactericidal properties.
